To whom it may concern
I trained with Michelle for approximately six months and that took me further than six months has ever taken me before, and further than six months will maybe take me again. She is a very experienced trainer with an eye for the tiniest but most important details in the art of riding dressage. That in combination with her putting great importance in the horses’ wellbeing makes a winning concept.
During my time with her I got to ride many very talented horses and Michelle taught me to use my body in a correct and effective way. Thanks to that I got many tools to in my turn to teach the horses to use their bodies correctly. She changed my seat in a way no trainer so far had been able to do and all of a sudden it got so much easier to ride and to teach a horse, to get them where I wanted them to be. I could make them grow in a way I wasn’t able to do before.
She made me trust my feeling on the horse and go the whole way to get things correct. I was before my time with her very timid in the saddle and settled when the horse was just going “okay”. With Michelle’s help I could get a very correct and pretty position in the saddle and make the horse work truly and correctly with its body. I could finally teach them to be soft and to dance. Make it fun for them to learn the right things and become easy to ride. I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to work and ride for a trainer like Michelle. Everyone that gets that chance should take it!
She has an amazing way of explaining things, so you develop a lot in a shorter time as a rider because everything feels very clear when you train with her. On top of that she is patient and always very caring for both horse and rider ⭐ one of the best trainers I've had!

I have the perfect fit for the 'trainer' you're looking for. Her name is Michelle Lauber. She knows horses. She has trained them to GP. She has wonderful experience training students, a very clear way of teaching, she will literally find in each student what is missing and also find the best way of explaining it!
I truly recommended you contact her. 😊😊

I strongly recommend Michelle Lauber from Legacy Hill Farms in Colorado! She’s an amazing trainer and clinician putting strong emphasis on correct basics, riders seat perfection, biomechanics and well being of the horse. Michelle is able to quickly connect with both horse and a rider and create a focused but cordial atmosphere, which enables maximized learning experience! Michelle worked for years with Ulla Salzgeber in Germany and has an international dressage experience. I also personally learned from Michelle in Colorado and she helped me to skyrocket my riding in an impressively quick time! 🤗

Where to start..... We came to Michelle over a year ago (2017). My daughter, Sydney, was 14 at the time and passionate about becoming a solid, knowledgeable and competitive dressage rider. She came from an eventing background with little knowledge of what the essence of Dressage was. Even though she could get on a horse and ride she never imagined the intricacy, timing, feel and dedication that is the sport of dressage!
Michelle started with digging in to teaching the very basics of suppleness and through-ness. This concept can take a lifetime to really feel and learn. It is something that Michelle incorporates into every ride. She is never working at the surface of a movement but always at the foundation. She then slowly developed Sydney’s riding from there, correcting pieces at a time. Like a puzzle, she put every piece in place until the entire picture came to life. She is truly a master. That is really a sign of an unbelievable teacher! Michelle also partners with her rider and their horse to figure out the best feeding, shoeing, supplements and care to get the most out of the partnership. She understands the rigors of the sport and the individuality of every horse's needs. Michelle has also given Sydney the opportunity to ride and develop some of her young imports. She has given Sydney a foundation that will allow her to be successful at understanding the sport and riding and training at a very deep level. She and Sydney have also formed a bond of unspoken understanding. Michelle never teaches just a riding lesson. It is always a philosophical understanding of the relationship between the horse, rider and teacher. Michelle can say one word and Sydney understands what she needs to adjust. It is truly inspirational to watch. This relationship of love, trust and knowledge is what has allowed Sydney to excel in her riding. Apart from the training, Michelle and Dr. Bernd have also become family. We have a partnership that is supportive, loving and trusting. It truly is the only way to achieve a sport at the highest levels. The language between all of us is an unspoken understanding in and out of the ring. It takes a village of support and love through thick and thin and that’s what Michelle and Dr. Bernd have given us️.

I have been so fortunate to have had the opportunity to be working closely with Michelle Lauber riding many of her incredible horses. As a starting professional, the chance to work with someone with such incredible expertise is such a blessing. Michelle is a patient, clear teacher for both horse and rider.
Her training philosophy is systematic, emphasizing the harmony and teamwork of the horse and rider. Her fun, yet professional style creates a wonderful, stress-free learning environment. I have seen amazing improvement in all of Michelle's students in a very short period of time. Michelle is always professional, positive, and inspiring to work with. I am honored to have her as a role model for me in so many ways, and look forward to working with her for a long time in the future!

When I think of my time as a riding student of Michelle’s, three main thoughts come to mind.
One, she has incredible insight of the horse and rider. On so many occasions, she could see things before I even realized they were happening and/or could react to them. Through her insight she can look at the whole picture of horse and rider and pinpoint exactly where the “angry” or "stuck" spot is. Whether it is from a tight muscle area in the rider or the form of the rider, or for the horse, an ill fitting saddle, bridle, padding, etc. It never ceases to amaze me how she could pinpoint these areas, make the smallest of changes to the tack, equipment or aid from the rider and you’d have an entirely different horse under you. To add to her insight, she has such a unique way in her teaching of making a correlation of what she wants you to feel to something in day to day life.
Secondly, she has the ability to know when to drive and push the rider and when to pick the most positive moment so that the horse and rider are not discouraged or frustrated. She can see when each individual rider is ready to reach his or her breaking point. Her ability to do this with me helped me to evolve into a respectable rider in a very short period of time.
Lastly, through her insight and correlation’s to life, I changed. She would always say, “how we ride is how we live our life”. When I first began, I was a timid, shy person lacking confidence. Through my riding with Michelle over the last three years I have bloomed into a confident woman with a voice. Dawn Berkenkotter

I am honored to write a letter of recommendation for my friend and mentor, Michelle Lauber.
I have known Michelle for almost 8 years and was one of her dressage clients for 7 years. When I met Michelle I was a very timid and ineffective rider. I started to take regular lessons from her and was amazed at how quickly my riding progressed. I went on to lease several horses from her at her facility, Legacy Hill Farms, in Colorado, so that I could ride more than a few times a week.
Eventually I imported a mare from Holland through her and was in full time training. As time went on my riding improved with Michelle's instruction and I received my bronze medal and competed at 4th level. I had achieved something that most riders do not get a chance to experience in such a short time.
I owe my riding achievements to Michelle. Michelle is a passionate instructor who is willing to share her library of knowledge with her students so that they succeed. Michelle is truly a gifted horse woman who has not only taught me to be a good rider but has also helped me achieve goals in my personal life.
Besides Michelle's talent for dressage training and instruction she has successfully built an import business with hundreds of her hand picked horses scattered across the United States. She has built this business over time with as much passion and wisdom to carefully match up rider with the best horse.
Thank you for this opportunity! Patty Sponseller

Dear Michelle,
I have been thinking recently about an article that the Horse Connection did in September for their readers. The article was titled “Why I ride”. When I look back on this question, it is sometimes a little foggy on why I actually started to ride dressage. I can honestly say I had only seen it (dressage) a few times and had no idea of the detail or patience the sport called for, not to mention the type of horse needed to support the rider in a solid partnership. Shortly after taking a few lessons at a western barn I realized that if I wanted to learn the art of dressage I needed to focus my energy with a trainer who could teach me the foundation of the sport. I had purchased my first horse who was only 3 years old and we had many challenges to overcome.
I must have had a guardian angel helping me along the way because it did not take long for me to go on a short drive from my home and stumble on a beautiful facility named Legacy Hill Farms. I think the first time I had actually seen a half pass in real life was when I came into the barn and saw you riding the tallest horse I had ever seen, Lumiere. I remember thinking that once I get over the fear of cantering my mare I want to do that....Well, it has been over 6 years since that day and you could say I am over the fear of cantering. I have not always had timing on my side when it came to the expense or the freedom given my responsibilities as a single mother but there has always been a place for me to learn at LHF and I continue that journey.
For many riders, they are thrilled to see a glimpse of a World Equestrian at an event or on a video (we were fortunate enough to be premiere guests of the Hanoverian Verband at the European Championships in Verden, Germany). Being exposed to the level of riding that you surround yourself with was quite incredible for me. Not only have I been able to benefit from your experiences in training with the German dressage team members ( Ulla and Heike) but I have seen that experience influenced in my riding and the quality of the horses I have purchased from you. Hello Everyone at LHF,
De Santos LHF is showing at his FIRST Recognized Region 1 Dressage show this Saturday and Sunday (4/8,9). Wish him luck- - as he has trained very hard at LHF and since his arrival at Jilba Dressage last August. Libby Anderson, his trainer, has attended to De Santos with the skill that you would expect from an international dressage authority; she is both a former gold medal competitor and an international judge. Libby always gives De Santos tender loving care because she really loves this horse!!!! Heidi Storm Graham, Assistant trainer at Jilba Dressage, will debut De Santos this weekend.
De Santos and I send our love and best wishes to all of you!!!!!
Frances Millian
Michelle,
Great news!!! De Santos placed 3rd in his very first test "Training Test 2" with Heidi. The next day he took 4th for the same test but he had a much higher score of 65%. There was a boo-boo in Training Test 3 the first day and the next day he did that test beautifully with a score over 60% with the toughest judge at the competition. The judges described him as; "Powerful and handsome", "Lovely horse-super potential", and "Very elegant horse".
The weather was rough and I did not get pictures but I have a video from the second day. I'll be sure to get pictures at the next show.
Please feel free to use my e-mails in your success story page.
Fabrice, he took 2nd, I think a 4th, and he WON the Adult Amateur Championship all at Second Level. Cindy Hutter his new owner is ecstatic. Let me know if you want the details and I'll get them to you.
Hi to all! --Frances & De Santos

I will be forever grateful to you for giving me the opportunity to own such an amazing animal, he is truly my heart and soul and EVERYONE who knows him loves him, not to mention trys to buy him all the time. He was my first horse and you were so wonderful that my trust and loyalty completely lies with you!!!
Wanted to give you an update on Romantic. We have him in full training with Jo Moran. She has her Ranch about 80 miles from us. He is doing fabulous. Jo said who ever started him did a great job. I remember (I think) he was with you from July 2004 until we got him. We are very pleased with him. We will be showing him at the LA equestrian center in July. Thanks again. Dr. Ben and Ellyn Childers
Hi Michelle,
We took Romantic to the LA Chapter Cornerstone Dressage Show at the LA equestrian center this past weekend. Jo Moran rode him for us. This was his first show, 1st levels test 2,3,4. We are happy to report he got a 79.7 and won the High Point for the show for the weekend!, his other scores were 72.593, 68.571 and 67.941. We were so proud of him. He did a great job. Michelle--I want you to know how much I appreciate the quality of the horses we had to chose from.
I would sincerely appreciate information on a Marquis-like schoolmaster should you find one in your future trips to Europe. I would be interested in having you shop specifically for me at that time. Please let me know how far in advance of trips to Europe you begin the process when you are shopping for a specific type horse for a specific client.
Again, thank you for seeing the magic in Wescott and bringing him to your barn, and to me.

Hi Michelle,
Just had to fill you in on the success I'm having with Weinkoenig. This past summer I went to a number of shows and won all my classes which qualified me to enter, The Northeast Ohio Dressage Association Championship show. Weinkoenig was absolutely super-the judges comments reflected so-lovely, beautiful mover, quite supple, good impulsion. Oh, in case your wondering, I won the championship for the 2006 show season.
Having Weinkoenig as my partner is a joy-so proud of him wherever I go. He always scores in the high 60's and 70's. He has taught me so much-such"natural talent" as my trainer would say. I could go on forever about him, instead I'll simply say, thanks for finding such a wonderful horse and if ever in the market again to buy another one I'll be giving you a call !
Sincerely,
Barb Hertzing
Hi Michelle,
Wanted to give you an update on Fidelio LHF. I know I emailed you last fall that we won the First Level Adult Amateur Championship in Region 2 and ranked in the top ten nationally in the FEI Five Year Olds. Well, we were selected to be the Second Level horse/rider combination for the Lisa Wilcox clinic held this past weekend in Michigan. We had a great time! Lisa rode Fidelio in two of the three sessions. It was exciting to watch an Olympic rider working your horse in front of hundreds of auditors.
Fidelio will be 6 in June. I can't believe how quickly two years have passed since I bought him from you! We plan on showing 2nd and 3rd level this year. Still working on the changes and quicker hind leg. He is a riot and a character and super talented! I love him!!
Thanks again for helping me find my perfect horse match!
Christina Moore
Hi Michelle! Liberty was wonderful yet again at the last horse show-winning all three of his classes. The freestyles went fabulous. A 76% at Second Level and a 77% once again at First level. It was an indoor show with some spooky corners and he just went along about his business like a grown up.
We do our first show at Third level in a few weeks. His changes are getting really nice. All the trot work is like a warm up for him now. As long as he feels comfortable in the new venue, I suspect he will be a star as usual. I'll send out a copy of the Freestyle on DVD for you. You will be amazed how mature he is looking. Now a Solid 16.2 hands with a big cresty neck and flat, strong topline. Still a bit lean, but he is working hard, growing, building muscle, and eating like a 16 year old boy!
I think Karen was supposed to be out last weekend to look at your horses. I hope she found one she liked. Liberty has been a great 'poster horse' for LHF. He is nothing like the other horses in the area. Everyone raves about him, me included. I hope you are doing well.
Take care,Molly
Hi Michelle:
"Rheinstone was Training Level Champion at Lamplight this past weekend in Wayne, IL.!!! Very consistent in the show ring, a handful outside it. Was high score two days in a row - Close to a 74 on Friday!"
"Rheinstone was inspected on Tuesday and did her mare performance test with a score of 8.11! We were told that only 3 or 4 other mares have ever achieved scores above 8. She was given a 9 for rideability, 9 for walk, 8's on trot and canter, a 9 for her head and a 9 for femininity. Obviously she won her performance test and her inspection over twenty other mare AND was granted pre-Elite status. Whew!. What Fun! We're beginning to think that she may have International potential. I really adore her. Thank you for importing her."
P.S. "One of the judges knows her breeder and will be happy to pass on the good info to him. He could not take his eyes off of her".
Dear Michelle
"I just wanted to give you an update on Billy (Belcanto). He is doing amazingly well. He had his first show in April at Del Mar National. He did very well at First Level. He came in fourth and third with scores of 67.64 and 65.50 (that was after a small spook and a 2 point error). I was so proud that he did so well at such a big and prestigious show. He had his second show last month at Flintridge and he was a star!!He won both his classes with a 73.5 (from Axel Steiner) and a 73.8, and he won reserve High Point Score of the show. I was so proud of him and Shannon." (Shannon Barnes).
"I just wanted you to know that Billy is in good hands and is very happy in San Diego. I am so happy that you found Billy- he is the best!"
Lisa
Hi Michelle!!
Fabrice is doing very well!! It looks like we will be taking him to Devon this year! I'm very excited. This past weekend, Jules won the grand prix with a 69% with Fabrice, and he got a 64% in the special.
Also, Morven Park had a $10,000 pas de duex challenge this weekend, and Jules and Fabrice, along with one of Libby's students, Heidie and her horse, Olympus, won it with an 84%!! They did it to the Rocky movie music and the crowd went nuts. It was a great weekend.
That's about it for us!! I hope all is well with you!
Holly
Dear Michelle,
It has been way too long since I have been in touch. Lance is the love of my life! His temperament and talent are both extraordinary. He went to his first show last weekend. My friend Amy showed him- He tied for third in his first class and won the second and third! (He was at 1st level) It was a big show- against all professionals!!!! I think of you often and hope all is well.
and....
The judges loved him. Every judge stopped Amy after her classes and commented on him!! I was just happy that I have a horse that loads!!--then he goes off and wins!!--unbelievable joy!! How are your horses doing? How are YOU doing?
Love, Lisa
Hi Michelle,
It's been awhile since I saw you last and I just wanted to give you an update on how my boys are doing. I took Fabulous LHF to his first show this weekend and he proved he was worthy of his name! He was high score of the show with a 73.4% ! I couldn't be more proud, he tried so hard to act grown up, although he did talk all the way through every test!
Regulus is doing wonderful as well, I will ride him this coming weekend as a 3rd/4th level demo rider in a USDF instructor certification clinic. He too has grown up into an amazing and consistent partner.
I hope all is going well with you and everyone at the barn, tell them all I said hi. Allie
“Hi Michelle, Hope all is well with you and your horses. Rubinstern is doing fabulous. I could go on forever about him...he is my favorite subject. They don't come better than him.
Anyway, Marilyn Payne was in Florida this past weekend at the Ulla Salzgeber Trainers/FEI Clinic, which she liked very much. She saw Carol Lavell (who has never seen Rubinstern) and Carol asked her about him Of course, Marilyn sung his praises. Carol, asked again, where I got him and Marilyn reminded her it was Legacy Hill Farm and Carol said she has a client in New England that she trains and the horse is also from LHF (this would be Lumiere) and Carol said, that too, is a lovely horse. I'm sure that is the horse you mentioned to me. Just thought I'd let you know your getting some good press. Marilyn is very pleased with his progress... His canter is AWESOME. I don't think I've seen a better canter on a youngster. THE END OF FEBRUARY, I am doing a 3 day clinic with Felictas Von Neuman Cosel Take care Nancy ”
"Dear Michelle,
Rubin and I are so perfect together. I rode this morning before work. He is just an angel and he is very happy with me as well. He is very smart and trusting. He is the most special gift, I could ever have gotten. Nancy"
"Hi Michelle. Rubinstern is doing great. We are so well suited for each other, it is amazing. I truly cannot believe how solid his mind is...he is awesome. I walk him across the street at night with the wind howling and a flashlight in hand, and he's just fine with that. When I am in the indoor, the wind is howling and he doesn't even think about it. Today a white cone fell off the side wall and brushed his butt and fell underneath him and he just stood there, like it never happened. He grows daily, I think. Physically, we are perfect together. I look forward to riding him so much. He's gotten a lot of confidence in me and that has become obvious. He seems to love me as much as I love him. Today was wonderful. He stayed in rhythm with my seat and I could give to him without his rushing on. His gaits are beautiful! I can tell you, he is very happy here and loves his new life and home. Marilyn will ride him once a week (with me there) to check out...and make sure all is good with my training. Marilyn and I work well together. I also take one lesson a week on one of her horses...strictly to work on body/position. Tomorrow, I will actually have a lesson with Marilyn with me riding Rubinstern. I saw your new arrivals on your website and they look like such beautiful horses. You really do get the best! I hope I will have the opportunity, some day, to refer someone to you. As much as you said about Rubinstern, he is even better Regards, Nancy"

accomplishment and a smile of my face.......shouldn't it be fun?
I only wish everyone had the opportunity to witness the ongoing progress we're making.......an incredible experience!!

Dear Michelle
I will be forever grateful to you for giving me the opportunity to own such an amazing animal, he is truly my heart and soul and EVERYONE who knows him loves him, not to mention trys to buy him all the time. He is going to Florida with Cathy (Morelli) this winter and will be shown Prix St. George. He was everything you said and so much more.
